07/17/2017 - College PREP - Minneapolis, MN Jonah continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the MIF, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays quick / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, accuracy, and carry across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved the most as he threw his top velocity to date at 83 mph. Fastball showed a range of 80-83 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

10/25/2015 - College PREP - Stillwater (Minneapolis), MN Jonah is an athletic 2-way player as a SS/RHP. With the bat, this righty has a square setup with good balance and rhythm to load. He tracks pitches into the zone, waiting to jump on the one he likes. Hands are quick whipping the barrel through the zone with speed as he connects and sprays the ball to all parts of the field. At SS, Jonah has active pre-pitch footwork moving well around the GB. He secures the ball with soft/sure hands and makes accurate throws across the diamond. Continuing to develop his foot speed / agility will help to increase his lateral range. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a tall balance point, keeps his eyes on the target and stays directional toward the plate. FB ranges form 72-75 mph while showing slight tail. Curveball has 10/4 shape with early action. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed helping to create deception. More lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber will help to get more into his FB. A 2018 grad - Jonah has a solid toolset with still time to develop.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
