12/27/2010 - Christmas Camp and Tournament 2010 - Session 2 Jonathon is a two-way player at 1B plus on the mound with a big, strong, and tall frame that is well suited for his position. Currently, he projects best at 1B for the next level. Foot speed is below average as he needs to get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness. Feet are active as he makes the routine plays but needs to be more aggressive in playing through balls with his body. Hands are a plus as he consistently shows the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Throws are accurate and display carry into his target. Offensively, Borchert shows an aggressive approach with hands working quickly through the zone, generating bat speed. He has strength in his swing and displays plus barrel accuracy with ball exploding off his bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. At the event, he was 5 for 9 with 2 2B and a 3B. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 75-81 mph showing hard, heavy action. Off speed pitches are average needing further development to be quickly pitches at next level. Jonathon has a lot potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his abilities at the plate.
