09/26/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Jupiter, FL Jonathan is a tall RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. On the mound, Jonathan operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 80mph. Breaking ball sits from 69-70mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 67-68mph with sinking action. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Jonathan improve his pitch command. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load and works to barrel up the baseball, driving the ball to his pull side. Jonathan can create more consistent contact by working through a more level swing path. Overall, Jonathan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/10/2021 - All-In Membership - Jupiter, FL Jonathan is a tall RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Jonathan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works inline toward the plate and finishes square to his target. Jonathan operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 76-77mph. Changeup sits at 69mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Loosening his arm action can help Jonathan improve his pitch command and velocity. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid to load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a level swing and gets good extension through the ball, producing strong line drives. Jonathan can create more consistent contact by working through a shorter swing path. Overall, Jonathan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

05/02/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Fort Lauderdale, FL Jonathan is a 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2023. Has a tall frame with strength present and plenty of room to develop more strength. Ran a 6.99 60-yard dash. At 3B, he fields from the ground up with a low funnel. On-line throws from a 3/4 arm slot, with a quick release, and recorded an arm velocity of 81mph. On the mound, this right-handed pitcher has a clean arm stroke in the back with a high 3/4 arm slot coming forward. Good job of gathering over the rubber and keeping his eyes on target throughout his delivery. Showed plus command on his FB that sat 77-78mph with some tailing action. Flashed a developing changeup with some movement in the zone. FB was his best pitch during his bullpen session. Right-handed hitter who hits from an upright and even stance. Gets some hand separation, with a quiet setup, who tracks pitches well. Showed ability to hit balls to the pull side with a bat exit velocity of 70mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee him having opportunities to play at the next level.

11/07/2020 - All-In Membership - Pompano Beach, FL Jonathan is a tall/projectable (6'1"/140) RHP/OF who pounds the zone with strikes. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH) coming from and overhand arm slot. He separates on-time, keeps his eyes on the target and repeats his delivery well. FB ranges from 68-70 mph as he works it in and out. Breaking ball shows 12/6 shape with some good depth on a downward plane - 58-59 mph. He throws his CH with FB arm speed helping to create deception. Working to drive his lower 1/2 off of the rubber while getting more glove-side lead will help to improve effectiveness on all pitches. In the OF, he hustles to his right and left to track down fly-balls. He secures the ball with 2-hands, has a clean transfer and works in-line toward his target. As a hitter, this righty shows a tall/square stance with active hands to load. He jumps on pitches he likes and drives the ball on a line. Even more power is there as he works to engage and drive his lower 1/2 throughout the swing. Deng has tools with upside as he approaches his sophomore year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
