06/27/2010 - Team One South 2010 Jonathan is a big, strong, 2-way player that plays 1B and RHP. Defensively, Jonathan has athletic actions, soft hands, and he moves well around the bag. He makes plays on balls hit his way and throws accurately with life and carry to his target. On the mound, Jonathan attacks hitters with his FB, and he works in good tempo. He changes speeds well, has good off-speed pitches, and he has a good presence on the mound. If Jonathan can keep his eyes to his target better and continue to add arm strength, abilities can further improve. Offensively, Jonathan good strength, good bat speed, and a level swing. He has pull side pop and can work the ball gap to gap. More lower 1/2 and better extension will help solid offensive numbers become even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
