Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

06/09/2010 - College PREP - Jupiter, FL Jonathan is a lean, athletic player that worked out at 3 positions in Jupiter. He showed best on the mound, but also worked out at 1B and behind the plate. On the mound, Jonathan has good balance and direction toward the plate. He has a simple delivery, his FB touches 80 MPH, and he is around the plate with his pitches. Jonathan's arm action is clean and his CH has good A/S run. Improved arm strength and looser body actions will help mound effectiveness improve. At 1B, Jonathan is a big target who moves well to his left. He flashes some ability, has a good exchange, and throws accurately at times. A better pre-pitch position, earlier glove, and quicker feet will help abilities at 1B further improve. Behind the plate, Jonathan has strong wrists and catches the ball cleanly. He stays square, tucks his chin, and is aggressive when blocking. Jonathan has a consistent transfer and is accurate at times to 2nd base. Jonathan can improve behind the plate with a better set-up, softer hands, and added arm strength. Offensively, Jonathan has a good set-up and a short / level swing. He is a patient hitter that hits the middle of the baseball. More live hands, a looser grip, and more use of his lower 1/2 should help hitting numbers get better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
