02/17/2024 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Jonathan continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft/sure and presents out front. He shows a good feel for the backhand play. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground and gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic, open setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He swings with intent and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight into a firm front side. We look forward to seeing what the future holds as Jonathan enters his sophomore baseball season.

12/01/2023 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Jonathan continues to impress with improvements in his baseball abilities and did so at the Academic All-American Tournament. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight into a firm front side. At SS, he displays smooth actions. He shows active footwork as he attacks balls, working to square balls up. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Fastball showed a range of 75-77 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late, sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Control is excellent as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

03/26/2023 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Jonathan is a 2026 SS/RHP prospect from Beverly, MA. At short, he shows off active feet and range to all angles. He gets in a low, squared fielding position working right to left and presents his hands out front with his eyes behind his glove. His exchange is clean and he shows off a loose arm while making accurate throws. He is capable of throwing from multiple arm slots depending on the play, and he creates momentum through his target. At the plate, he starts in an athletic stance with a squared stride to the pitcher. He gets a good hand load and shows off a fluid rhythm with good, centered balance. He stays on a direct swing path to the ball and has an impressive bat angle. He projects as a line-drive hitter that squares the ball up consistently. Has a lot of intent in the box. On the mound, he has good balance and a smooth, repeatable delivery. He gets an impressive leg drive towards the plate with an on-time separation and squared stride. His arm action is clean and his arm is loose. He is very capable of being a consistent strike-thrower. His CB features an 11-5 late break and he does a good job of maintaining FB arm speed when he throws his CH. Excited to see Jonathan's development with 3+ years left of high school!

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Jonathan is a 2026 OF/RHP out of Beverly, MA who showcased his skills at the BF Rookie PSAA Tournament. In the OF, he tracks the ball well and works behind the baseball. Showed efficient footwork as he gets good reads off the bat and runs down balls in all directions. Fields from an athletic fielding position with a clean funnel off of his left foot. He has a quick arm stroke in back, with high 3/4 release point coming forward. Made accurate throws into infield with good momentum towards his target. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance with loose hands. A controlled load with good balance at contact. He hit balls to all fields. During the games, Jonathan showed good plate discipline as he drew 5 base on balls. On the mound, he separates his hands on-time and accelerates out front. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 67mph with plus command, a 9/3 shaped breaking ball, and a changeup. With 3 1/2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Jonathan making huge strides on the baseball diamond.

07/16/2022 - Baseball Factory National World Series at IMG Academy - (MS) Jonathan is a 2026 OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the IMG National World Series. In the OF, he starts in an athletic position, with efficient feet, and works behind/through the ball. Runs good routes to baseballs with ability to finish. Has a clean exchange off of his left foot and made accurate throws into infield. He throws from an over-the-top arm slot with an arm velocity up to 77mph. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance with low hand set. Has a lower half driven swing with good balance at contact point and his weight between his knees. Sprayed balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 65mph during BP. During the event, Jonathan proved to be a tough out as he made solid contact and drew 4 base on balls. Overall, Jonathan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/05/2022 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (MS) Jonathan is a 2026 MINF/RHP out of Beverly, MA who had a great event at the Cape and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, he threw a fastball that showed a range of 61-66 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape displays with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength and developing off speed pitches will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he works hard and is very coachable.

11/14/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Marlborough (Boston), MA Jonathan is a 2B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2026. In the field, Jonathan moves well laterally and creates good angles. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is quick and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate/on-line to his target. Long tossing can help Jonathan build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth to load and leads well with his lower half. He works through a level swing and produces solid line drives. Jonathan can generate more pop off the barrel by fully driving his lower half through. On the mound, Jonathan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Jonathan operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 60mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 52-53mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 54-57mph with sinking action. Keeping his eyes on target throughout his delivery can help Jonathan improve his pitch command. With five more years to develop, Jonathan has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
