01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Jordan showed similar skills at the UA Preseason All-America as he did back in 10/09. He is a young, athletic, middle INF with a bright baseball future. Jordan's hands and feet work well, and he has a quick release. Jordan has a good idea of the INF position, flashes soft hands, and he makes plays on balls hit his way. Looser body actions as Jordan continues to grow will only make him better defensively. At the plate, Jordan has good balance and bat speed. He gets good extension to and through the baseball and he has pop in his bat. Jordan's offensive numbers can get even better if he can loosen his actions and incorporate more lower 1/2 into his swing.

10/21/2009 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic - 2009 Jordan is a young SS with an outstanding body that is well suited for his position. Foot speed is solid average as indicated by his 7.36 60 time as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to aid in improving foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active and aggressive in coming to get, playing through with momentum to his target. Hands and feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly, with a soft, clean, and sure glove action in making all the plays. He is a tremendous defender with a big upside as he displays above average defensive abilities in the middle of the IF. Arm strength is solid average showing carry across the diamond as he needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength with carry. At the plate, Friend continues to shine showing above average abilities with well above average power through an aggressive setup. Hands are quick, direct showing plus bat speed to and through the baseball at contact as he shows a solid feel for the barrel. He will hit and hit with power as the baseball jumps off his bat when centered. At the event, he was 5 for 14 with 2B. With 2 years to further develop, Jordan has the makings to be a special type player at the next level and will get a ton of looks from the top collegiate coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
