04/07/2013 - College PREP - Louisville, KY In Jorge's most recent outing with Baseball Factory, he hit well from both sides of the plate. Defensively, he has soft hands, active footwork, clean exchange and quick release, allowing his arm to play better than his velocity shows. He takes a good first step coming to get balls and moves well laterally. Offensively, he has a nearly identical swing from both sides with decent balance and a level swing path. Loosening his grip and eliminating the wrap of his bat will increase his bat speed and allow for greater barrel accuracy and power. A switch hitting MIF at the next level is well sought after and we believe Jorge is versatile enough to play both 2B and SS.

11/08/2012 - Baseball Factory Training & Competition at Pirate City Jorge is an athletic SS that will graduate in 2014. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 6.95 60 time. Feet are quick / athletic as he moves well laterally, flashing range in the MIF. He works to square balls up and displays clean hands. For defensive grades to continue to improve, he needs to play through ball more and present hands more out front. Throws are accurate, flashing carry through a loose arm action but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Reyes is a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. He shows an athletic stance with balance and rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the ball jumping off his bat when centered. At the event, he was 2 for 6 with a 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and is very coachable. He works hard to be the best player he can be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
