12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Joseph shows continued improvement as a 1B/RHP prospect in the 2022 class. He shines at the plate with sound hitting mechanics. He shows good rhythm and uses his lower half to produce consistent contact, while recording his highest exit velo to date (85 mph exit velo). He hits the ball where it's pitched and collected 2 singles at the event. At 1B, he shows active prep and hustles into a square/athletic fielding position. He tracks the ball into his mitt and gathers well. On the mound, Cook displays his ability to compete with a good feel for the position. He shows a 3-pitch mix (FB/CB/CH) with the FB ranging from 77-79 mph from a high 3/4 arm slot. He shows good poise and confidence from the mound. Joseph continues to progress and show he can make an impact in all facets of the game.

07/26/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Joseph continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate, He shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a level swing path and has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. At 1B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting hands more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 69-71 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

02/10/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Monticello, IA Joseph is a talented 1B/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. As a right-handed hitter, Joseph has a square setup with a centered balance. He has a smooth rhythm with a good load and on-time stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Joseph has a long swing path with good strength behind his barrel. He consistently lands his barrel to the baseball producing good contact. Joseph has the ability to drive the ball to each gap with power. In the field, Joseph works hard and makes the routine plays. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a square position. Joseph has a clean exchange, leading into a loose arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball showing consistently strong, accurate throws across the diamond. On the mound, Joseph gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, finishing with a controlled landing. Joseph shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 61-65mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits form 64-65mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Joseph is a well-rounded prospect who has potential to impact the game from both sides of the ball.

02/11/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Monticello, IA Joseph is an athletic, 2-way player who plays 1B and RHP. Defensively, Joseph has playable hands and feet, and he makes the routine plays. He keeps the ball in front, has a clean exchange, and throws with some accuracy to his target. On the mound, Joseph works in good rhythm, he keeps his eyes on target, and has a controlled landing toward home. Offensively, Joseph has a tall/open stance, a short stride, and he swings in good rhythm. He can hit to all fields, and makes consistent contact. Joseph can get better with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
