Official Scouting Report

  • 2Class Rating
  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

01/12/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Joseph is an athletic 2025 OF/LHP who showcased his talents at the BF Pre-Season All-America Tournament. In the outfield, he has effective footwork and is agile. He does a good job picking out hops and presents his hand. He has a clean exchange and throws from a ¾ arm slot. He catches the ball at the highest point and stays behind the ball well. At the plate, he has an athletic stance and an activated load. Joseph has great balance and a firm front leg at contact. He showcased great barrel accuracy during batting practice and was able to hit the ball to all fields with consistent hard contact. On the mound, he was dominant. He showcased a 3-pitch mix with a fastball that sat 84-86 mph with good tail, a curveball that had great 12-6 movement, and a change-up that sat 75-77 that he was able to consistently throw for a strike. He had great mechanics and a repeatable motion that led to great success. During the game, he picked up 6 strikeouts in only 3 innings of work. With a few years left of development, we expect Joseph to continue to catch the eyes of scouts.

09/20/2023 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic (2025) Joseph is an athletic 6ft 1/185 L/L 1B/LHP in the 2025. In the field, he shows excellent agility and smooth footwork. Gains a quick 1st step (7.26 runner) and creates an athletic fielding position. Can redirect the baseball with clean actions and obtains a loose and high 3 qtr. slot. Feeds are accurate and ball flight is strong (91 raw velo). On the mound, Joseph has a high ceiling. Demonstrates a clean arm and maintains body control. His FB sat 82-4 and was routinely in the zone. His CB had 2-8 shape with late break. His CH ranged from 72-3 with tailing actions. At the plate, he has a smooth swing. Shows a relaxed feel in the box with comfortable hands. His is on-time with the baseball and his barrel is on-plane. Bat speed plays at 84 exit velo and working to learn the strike zone will help him from expanding. Overall, Joseph is a next level player with a bright future.

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Joseph continues show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.18 runner. At 1B, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents out front. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, power potential is now well above average as he shows a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 79 mph. Fastball showed a range of 75-79 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm strength on his changeup with slight sink. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
