01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Joseph participated at the UA Preseason All-America as both a RHP and Catcher, and currently projects best on the mound. Joesph has a high 3/4 arm slot and throws downhill to the hitter. He has good balance, arm speed, and extension on his pitches. Joesph has good mound presence, works down in the zone, and has good control of his CB. He is projectable on the hill, and with more use of his lower 1/2, his stock on the mound could continue to rise. Behind the plate, Joseph has soft hands and good footwork. He blocks and receives the baseball well, and works to get around it well. Better ball tracking and quicker actions will only help Joseph behind the dish. Offensively, Joseph has average balance and bat speed. He has a level bat path and is direct to the ball. More use of his lower 1/2 should help overall hitting and power numbers further improve.

10/21/2009 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic - 2009 Joseph is a young two-way player on the mound plus as a catcher with a solid average body that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level. Delivery is sound displaying solid mechanics that allows his live arm to work loose and clean away from his body from an over the top slot. Arm strength is well above average as indicated by his top velocity of 88 mph on the mound. Fastball shows a range of 81-88 mph with a means of 85 mph displaying slight run on a downhill plane that creates tough angles on hitters. Off speed pitches are solid average flashing potential as being quality pitches at the next level. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches, changing speeds well. Foot speed is below average as he needs to get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Pop times show a range of 2.00-2.14 as his hands and feet work well together in getting rid of the baseball quickly. Receiving and blocking skills are near above average showing as quality tools at the next level. At the plate, hitting abilities are average with slightly above average power through a balanced approach but has mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving with instruction mound and adjustments. Hall has an upside on the mound and will get a ton of looks from the collegiate coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
