04/28/2024 - National Showcase - Binghamton, NY Joseph continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he has improved the most, through an athletic, squared setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. In the OF, feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with carry (81 mph velocity) to his target.

12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Joseph is a 2028 SS who showcased his skills during the BF East Coast Winter Classic. At SS he starts on the balls of his feet and closes distance on batted balls. He works from right to left and fields from an athletic fielding position with sure hands. Made accurate throws to first base with an arm velocity up to 78mph. At the plate he hits from a relaxed and square stance with loose hands. A strong kid who takes an aggressive swing. Unfortunately, Joseph became ill during camp and needed to go home. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

09/17/2023 - National Showcase - Troy (Albany), NY Joseph is a lean SS/OF who will graduate in 2028. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he works around ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. He does a nice job of playing through his back hand. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls and play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. With 5 years to further develop, Joseph has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
