12/27/2024 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic (MS) Joseph continues to shine on the diamond, demonstrating a strong skill set both behind the plate and at bat. Defensively, he shows a soft, sure mitt with excellent pocket awareness, sticking pitches effectively and using his body well when blocking balls out front. His pop times, currently in the 2.90 range, will likely improve as he builds arm strength through a long toss program. Offensively, Joseph employs an open setup, quick hands, and an aggressive swing path, staying inside the ball and driving it to all fields through a line-drive approach, aided by an aggressive hip turn in his lower half. With a great attitude, high coachability, and a strong work ethic, Joseph is poised to continue refining his game.

11/08/2024 - Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Training (MS) Joseph is a talented 2029 catcher and outfielder from Nebraska who made impressive strides at the Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Training in Arizona. Behind the plate, he presents a solid target with an easy, low sit and shows great ability to gain ground toward second base with a quick transfer, posting his best pop time at 2.6 seconds. His throws were accurate, demonstrating strong fundamentals, although he will need to work on his blocking technique, particularly in closing the five-hole more effectively. As a right-handed hitter, Joseph displayed excellent bat speed and pull side power, showing the ability to drive the ball with authority. An 8th grader with athletic actions, Joseph has a great foundation and plenty of upside, making him a player to watch as he continues to develop both defensively and offensively. His strong work ethic and potential for growth suggest he will keep improving as he progresses in his baseball career.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
