05/23/2010 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Joseph is a lean, athletic Catcher that will graduate in 2011. Behind the plate, Joseph receives the ball well, presents his glove, and has a narrow base. He takes good angles when block and is not afraid to get in front of the ball. Joseph gets rid of the ball quickly, stays inline, and throws downhill to his target. Better direction, added arm strength, and a shorter arm action will help defensive abilities improve. At the plate, Joseph has okay balance and a good set-up. He makes good contact and can spray the ball to all fields. Hitting can improve with better rotation, more extension, and a more level swing.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
