04/21/2013 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Joseph is a young 2B that will graduate in 2015. Feet are active as he works to square balls up and shows clean hands. He needs to attack balls more and play through while presenting hands more out front to continue to improve defensive abilities. Throws are accurate but must build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Rodriguez shows a balanced approach. He makes consistent contact and uses his lower half well. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work on getting stride foot down sooner to work on time and improve bat speed. Power numbers will improve as he adds more overall body strength. With 2 years to further develop, Joseph has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
