08/22/2010 - College PREP - Farmingville (Long Island), NY Joseph is a big, thick, RHP that will graduate in 2011. On the mound, Joseph keeps his eyes to his target and he repeats his delivery well. He gets good separation, the ball has some life out of his hand, and he keeps his arm speed the same with all of his pitches. Joseph is raw on the mound and his CH and SPL showed to be his best pitches. Joseph can improve on the mound with better glove side lead, added arm strength, and development of his CB. At the plate, Joseph has average balance, bat speed, and barrel accuracy. He has a strong set-up, he stays in side the ball, and his lower 1/2 works well. Joseph has some pop in his bat, and if he can stride sooner, avoid lunging, and extend his arms, offensive grades can pick up.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
