10/06/2024 - National Showcase - Chicago, IL Josh is a 2027 right-handed pitcher and shortstop from Avon Lake, OH, who showcases strong skills in both positions. In the infield, he works efficiently from right to left, maintaining active footwork throughout the fielding process. His low funnel technique allows for accurate throws across the diamond from multiple release points. On the mound, he exhibits good rhythm and downhill mechanics, picking up his target early and getting his chest to his glove. He effectively throws a fastball with movement in the zone, a curveball with good depth, and a changeup delivered with fastball arm speed. At the plate, he hits from a tall and open stance, demonstrating smooth timing, a quiet head, and a firm front side, allowing him to get on plane and square up balls to all fields. With three years ahead for continued growth and development, he has a bright future in the game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
