07/28/2024 - National Showcase - Redmond, WA Josh is a strong and physical player in the 2027 class. At 1B, he showcases his skills through his quick feet, clean exchange, and accurate throws. He is able to stay low and athletic in his fielding position, working through his target. One of his main strengths is his bag awareness and understanding where he is in relation to it at all times. At the plate, Josh is always looking to do damage. He takes aggressive swings which produce high exit velocities. He begins with a square setup and loads his backside effectively, allowing him to utilize his lower half. He made consistent solid contact on all the swings he took. Overall, Josh has tremendous upside and should be an exciting prospect to follow for the future!

01/27/2024 - National Showcase - Bothell (Seattle), WA Josh is a 2027 1B/LHP prospect with a tall, athletic frame at 6'2" 210 pounds. He does a nice job pre-pitch of getting his feet in a ready position and he shows off agile movements to all angles. He gets in a low fielding position and shows off quick feet while fielding the ball out in front. He has impressive bag awareness and he does a nice job receiving. He has a quick exchange and he makes accurate throws to his targets with a quick release. At the plate, he starts in a tall stance and has a quiet approach. He has a short stride and he gets a good load back while showing off smooth movements in the box. He does a nice job of keeping his balance centered and he does a great job of leading with his lower half. He flashes explosive bat speed and he does a great job of staying direct to the baseball while also getting good extension through contact. He uses all fields and flashed some serious pop with the ball jumping off his bat. He recorded an impressive max exit velo of 86 MPH. On the mound, he throws from a 3/4 slot and shows the ability to throw strikes with all 3 of his offerings. He gathers his balance over the rubber and he does a nice job of staying squared to his target through his delivery. His mechanics are solid and his frame is projectable. He shows off some tail with his FB and he does a nice job of throwing his CH with FB arm speed. Overall, Josh is an exciting prospect that we are looking forward to seeing more of in the future!

12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Josh is an exceptional 6 ft 2/200 LH hitting 1B/LHP in the 2027 class. In the field, he shows a strong target for his defenders. Has bag awareness and covers his defensive area well. Arm works at 80 with an over-the-top release. On the mound, he shows a good feel for pitching and has mound presence. His FB sat 76-8 with excellent run. His CB shaped 1-7 and provided medium break at 60-3. His CH sat 70 and working to maintain FB arm speed will provide further deception. At the plate, he swings with intent to do damage. He begins from a crouched stance with loose hands. Gets the barrel to the zone with explosive actions (88 exit velo). Path is on-plane and working to attack the iside part of the ball will provide more full field production. Overall, Josh has a high ceiling and scouts are eager to witness his continued development at future BF events.

08/07/2023 - National Showcase - Redmond, WA Josh is a solid, strong 1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying outstanding power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive swing path with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through an aggressive hip turn. At 1B, feet are active as he displays proper foot around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are firm and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Josh has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
