12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Joshua is an athletic 3B/OF in the 2024 class. He recently performed well at the AZ Recruiting Classic and improved in several areas since the last time we have seen him. On the dirt, he shows an athletic feel and displays quick feet (7.37 speed). Has agile movements in his ball pursuit and gains a low fielding position. Presents the glove well and can redirect the baseball with quick and clean actions. Gets the ball in the air from a high 3 qtr. slot. Arm plays in both velo (82) and with accuracy. Scouts loved his engagement in game and drill action and works hard at his defensive craft. Showed well in the OF, with solid routes and his ability to move his feet quickly while maintaining body control. At the plate, he has a great week with 4 quality at-bats. He collected 2 singles and reached on 2 BB’s and HBP. Was aggressive on the bases and collected 2 steals. He has good balance at the plate and shows comfortable hands. Stays inside his feet and hits off a firm front side. Displays solid bat to ball skills for line drive production. Overall, Joshua impressed scouts and feel he can help a college roster in the near future.

03/26/2023 - National Showcase - San Marcos (San Diego), CA Joshua is an athletic 3B/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are excellent as feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind ball and plays through with momentum to his target. At 3B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft, sure, and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (80 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, hitting abilities are solid through a crouched setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Joshua has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
