Official Scouting Report

12/27/2024 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic (MS) Joshua continues to impress with his baseball abilities on the diamond. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 60 mph. Fastball showed a range of 59-60 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving stock on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, has great attitude, and works hard to be the best player he can be.

11/17/2024 - National Showcase - Tampa, FL Joshua, a 7th grader and a dual-threat as both a first baseman and left-handed pitcher, demonstrates strong fundamentals and great potential. As a first baseman, he shows fluid footwork and consistently centers the ball while maintaining an athletic fielding position. His good glove angle and accurate throws to all bases reflect his solid understanding of bag awareness and his ability to make plays around the infield. On the mound, Joshua has a simple, repeatable delivery with a quick arm, showing excellent mechanics. He keeps his chest over his front knee and works with good direction down the mound. His pitch mix includes a fastball, change-up, and cutter, all of which he commands well, making him a versatile and effective pitcher. As a left-handed hitter, Joshua displays a strong swing, hitting into a firm front side and keeping his weight balanced between his knees. His aggressive swing allows him to turn on inside pitches and make square contact, driving the ball to all fields. With six years until he graduates high school, Joshua has plenty of time to continue developing his skills, and his future looks very bright as he refines his game.

09/05/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Baltimore, MD Joshua had a strong performance at the All-Ripken games in Aberdeen, showcasing his offensive and pitching abilities while helping Team Valor. At the plate, Joshua impressed with his patient approach, demonstrating good plate discipline and allowing the ball to get deep in the zone. This allowed him to consistently make solid contact and drive the ball to the opposite field, showing off his ability to hit to all parts of the field. His ability to adjust to different pitches and stay patient at the plate helped him record multiple hits during game play, contributing significantly to his team's offense. On the mound, Joshua displayed a smooth delivery, with a fastball that sat in the 53-57 mph range and a breaking ball that ranged from 45-48 mph. His breaking ball showed potential to be a useful pitch as he continues to refine it. From the stretch position, he was quick to the plate, helping to neutralize the running game and give his catcher a chance to throw out base stealers. This quickness adds an important dynamic to his pitching profile, as it keeps base runners on edge and helps limit their opportunities. Overall, Joshua's offensive consistency and ability to control the running game from the mound demonstrate his well-rounded skill set. As he continues to develop his pitching velocity and further refines his breaking ball, he has the potential to continue making a significant impact in both areas of the game.

06/08/2024 - BF Evaluation Experience at Pigeon Forge Josh is a lean 1B who is a prospect on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and makes consistent hard contact, flashing gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. At 1B, he continues to shine as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 6 years to further develop, Joshua has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
