01/14/2011 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2011 Freeman showed improvements in his game both in the INF and on the mound during the Pre-Season All-America. Defensively, Josh has a good set-up, playable hands and feet, and reads the ball off the bat well. He presents his glove well and makes plays. He has a loose and accurate arm across the diamond. On the mound, Josh has a FB that touches 81 MPH which he throws on a slight downhill plane. He attacks hitters, works both sides of the plate, and changes speeds well. Josh has a solid CB, pitches to contact, and gets outs. At the plate, Josh showed good balance, a short stroke, and centers the ball on the barrel of his bat. He has a level swing, gets good extension to and through the ball, and can spray to all fields. Josh is a solid two-way player who has a bright future in the game.

06/27/2010 - Team One South 2010 Josh is a thin, athletic, 2nd baseman that will graduate in 2011. Defensively, Josh has quick feet, and soft / sure hands. He moves well laterally, fields the ball cleanly, and gets rid of the ball quickly. Josh has an easy arm action and delivers it accurately to his target. Offensively, Josh has a good set-up and rhythmic swing. He centers the ball well on the barrel and can spray the ball to all fields. Hitting can improve if Josh can shorten his stroke, add strength, and avoid stepping in the bucket.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
