06/15/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Joshua continued to show as a 1B/LHP at the event but currently projects best at 1B for the next level where he has improved his defensive abilities. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver, displaying soft / clean hands. He needs to present hands more out front and work to pick balls out of the dirt to continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He has rhythm in his swing and is aggressive early in the count. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-75 mph on a slight downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with slight break. Changeup is his best off speed pitch showing solid fading action but slows arm speed, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained. Mental makeup is a plus as he displays a positive attitude and works hard to be the best player he can be.
