07/07/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Trenton, NJ Josh continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.00 as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, power potential has improved through a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

12/12/2021 - All-In Membership - Manalapan, NJ Joshua is a young catcher who will graduate in 2024. Behind the plate, Joshua holds low target, feet are active, and he moves well side to side. He shows good flexibility, covers a five whole well, and keeps his chin down when blocking. Joshua has a clean exchange from glove to hand, and throws with a quick release and some accuracy to his target. Pop times where as low as 2.10 seconds to 2nd base. Less extra movements, and a better release will help abilities behind the plate get better. Athletically, Joseph stands in the box with a closed stance, a square stride, and good balance. He swings on plane, make solid contact, and he uses some lower body. If Joshua can loosen his grip, work on rhythm/timing, and add bad speed, Joshua will improve hitting numbers.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
