01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Jude is an athletic/projectable (6'0"/175) LHP/1B who has a ton of upside. On the mound, this lefty has an effective 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot and quick arm action. He keeps his eyes on the target and stays directional toward the dish. FB shows slight run ranging from 72-74 mph. Breaking ball has 1/7 shape - 59-61 mph. Changeup shows to be his best off-speed pitch as he throws it with FB arm speed helping to create deception. It shows good sink and will get GB outs. He mixes his pitches well and pounds the zone with strikes. At 1B, Jude shows good lateral range and works into a square fielding position. He tracks GB's into a soft mitt and gathers well. With the bat, this lefty displays an open setup with rhythm to load. He takes a hack at pitches he likes and squares the ball up, driving the middle of the field. Only a 2021 grad - Zern has a solid all-around skill-set with a bright future ahead of him in the game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
