02/24/2024 - National Showcase - Lake Zurich (Chicago), IL Julian is a 5ft 6/176 SS/RHP in the 2027 class. In the field, he shows solid pre-pitch movements and the ball sticks to his pocket. He redirects with clean actions and gains a short side arm release. He is consistent on his throws and with further strength and using his legs, he can create more carry on the baseball. On the mound, he proves to be very coachable and eager to develop. He keeps solid posture and can work both sides of the plate. He uses a 3-pitch mix from a high 3 qtr. slot. His FB sat 67-70 and showed movement. His CB ranged 66-7 with 11-5 shape and medium break. His CH is a work in progress and when he becomes comfortable grip, scouts feel he has the athletic ability to make it a deceptive pitch. At the plate, he begins with an open stance and gets into his load well. Shows solid balance and excellent bat to ball skills. Ball comes off at 75 and with further strength, he can drive the baseball to the gaps. Overall, Julian is a young player with a bright future.

09/24/2023 - National Showcase - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Julian is a SS/RHP in the 2027 class. In the field, he works hard to keep the ball in front of his body and tracks the ball well into his glove. Gains a short arm action with a 3 qtr. release. Throws are strong and on-line to his targets. Working on widening his base will allow him to play lower to the ground. On the mound, he keeps his eyes to the target and shows solid rhythm. Releases from a high 3 qtr. slot and is around the zone. His FB sat 67-8 and his B ranged 64-5. CH has fb arm speed and working to take off some velo will compliment his FB more. At the plate, he has quiet eyes and gains great extension with his on-plane path. Controls the barrel well and generates consistent contact. Overall, Julian is a young player with a bright future.

07/28/2023 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC (MS) Julian is a 2027 RHP/SS prospect who showcased his skills at the BF National World Series. Decent frame athletic build with a projectable frame and room to fill throughout moving forward. At SS he has efficient feet and a good pre-pitch routine enable him to create good fielding angles in all directions. A right-handed pitcher who shows good mound presence and works with good tempo. Throws a FB that sat 66-70mph with some movement through the zone. Mixed in a breaking ball and a changeup. He didn't allow a hit or an earned run in 1 inning of action. A right-handed hitter, he hits from an upright and open stance with high hands. Showed ability to spray balls to all fields. During the tournament, he reached base 5 times with a single, 2 walks, reached on an error, and was hit by a pitch. Julian had a great week of work and we look forward to seeing him in the near future.

04/30/2023 - National Showcase - Elgin (Chicago), IL Julian is an athletic RHP/SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 61-62 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Julian has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
