09/24/2023 - National Showcase - Seattle/Pasco, WA Julian is a 2027 RHP/1B prospect with a strong lower half from Kennewick, WA. At first, he shows off active feet and does a good job of centering the baseball. He gets in a squared fielding position and presents firm hands out in front. He has a good backhand and shows a ton of bag awareness. His exchange is quick and he makes accurate throws from a 3/4 slot with a long arm action. He is an impressive fielder that should continue to get better at the position with more reps. At the plate, he starts in an open stance and has a short stride with a good load. He keeps his balance centered through contact and has a firm frontside with his lower half. He lets his hips finish strong and makes hard, consistent contact. He has an oppo approach that works well and is able to spray the ball to all fields. On the mound, he throws from an overhand slot and features a 4-pitch mix. He gathers his balance over the rubber and gets on-time separation. He gets good extension through his release and stays squared when driving to the plate. He gets a nice glove tuck and finishes with his nose over his toes. His off-speed offerings will feed off of his established fastball. Overall, Julian is an exciting prospect that should continue to develop nicely as he gets bigger and stronger!

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
