12/07/2014 - College PREP - Sacramento, CA Justin is a RHP who has a 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH). He works to a tall/controlled balance point, maintains fluid rhythm and works in-line toward the plate. FB ranges from 74-76 mph while showing sink. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch as it has 11/5 shape showing to be good out pitch. Changeup has slight run but will increase effectiveness by staying on top of and throwing with FB arm speed. More lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber will help to increase velocity. With the bat, Justin displays a square setup with good balance. He has fluid rhythm and works back into a strong loaded position. He swings on a level path and utilizes his lower 1/2 well to generate pop off of his barrel. Only a 2017 grad - Justin has tools that will only continue to progress.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
