11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Justin is a long, lean 1B prospect who plays the game hard and does whatever it takes to get better. He has really improved since we last saw him, showing a stronger arm and the ability to hit the ball harder. He shows very solid at the plate with an aggressive approach and a big swing to attack the ball. He gets on plane early and works on a level path to the ball, delivery the barrel consistently to make solid contact. At first, he has efficient feet to work around the bag to field and receive throws. He fields square to the ball and centers it in his body to make clean plays and throws accurately to his target. Speed and agility drills will help him extend his range and improve home to first times. Justin is an intriguing prospect we look forward to continue watching.

05/21/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Redwood City (San Francisco/San Jose), CA Justin is a hardworking 1B prospect who has a projectable frame and graduates in 2020. In the field, Justin plays with effective pre-pitch actions and proper footwork to give him a good jump on the ball. He gets around the baseball to field it squarely in a low position. He has a loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. As a right-handed hitter, Justin has a tall stance and tracks the ball well. He is a contact type hitter who does a nice job engaging his hips in his swing. Justin has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Overall, Justin has a good approach to the game on both sides of the ball and potential to get even better.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Justin is a big, young 1B prospect who works hard and tries to get better every time he's on the field. He's a solid defensive first baseman as he makes the routine plays and keeps the ball in front of him. He shows feel for the position with his footwork around the bag, looking to shorten throws for the other infielders. He holds runners on well and is a big part of shutting down the opponents running game, while being able to get back and field his position. At the dish, he has an activated load to a powerful bat angle to be ready to launch through the zone. He shows a patient approach in the box with good tracking ability to stay in the zone and make pitchers work during his at-bats. Two ball soft toss will help improve barrel accuracy and lead to more contact and base hits moving forward. We look forward to watching as Justin continues to develop.

07/10/2016 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 Justin is a rapidly improving 1B prospect who takes coaching well and works hard at his craft. Presently, he is a solid defensive first baseman who makes plays in the field. He is aggressive working to the ball and plays through it with momentum to his target. He also has good footwork and actions around the bag both to field and receive. At the dish, Justin shows a level bat path to the ball to hit line drives. He also makes adjustments in at bats as he gets a feel for how a pitcher is attacking him. Getting more reps in the cage will help with rhythm which will lead to more contact for Justin. This is a good kid who has a lot of good baseball in front of him.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Justin is a hardworking young player who enjoys baseball. He attacks the ball defensively and stays in front, allowing him to control the ball and make plays. At the plate, his head stays quiet, he tracks the ball well and keeps his swing simple and compact. As he matures and continues to give 100% each time out, we expect to see Justin make solid strides as a ballplayer.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
