01/21/2024 - National Showcase - Highland Park (DFW), TX Justin is a 2025 graduate out of Fairfield, TX. At the plate is where he continues to show best through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is firm but needs to present earlier and more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness.

12/03/2023 - National Showcase - Highland Park (DFW), TX Justin is a C who will graduate in 2025. Tall frame athletic build with strength present. Behind the dish, he shows an easy sit, with efficient footwork, and tracks pitches well. Presents a low target and shows some pocket awareness. Has a low and square secondary stance and gains ground to second base on his throw downs. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 77mph and a best pop time of 2.21 seconds. At the plate he hits from an athletic and open stance. Gets a good hand load with smooth timing to swing. He hits into a firm frontside and has a fast barrel through the hitting zone. There is intent in swing as he hit balls hard into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 84mph. Another year of growth and development should help Justin on the baseball field.

He has a good feel at the plate. He works through the ball well with his lower half with an on-plane swing and fast bat speed. His hips and hands are impressive and he works gap to gap with line drive swings. Attacks good pitches and is able to make adjustments in the box that leads to success. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
