07/29/2008 - Under Armour Southwest Regional Tournament - 2008 Justin improved his 60-time, H-1B time, and overall power grade while at UA SW. In the INF, showed decent range with good DP turns. Stayed on toes while working towards target and made accurate throws. An earlier approach will allow him to field ball out front and long toss will loose arm action. At the plate, had balance stance with good path to hitting zone and some pull-side pop. Staying on ball will allow him to use all fields consistently. Overall power will improve when he utilizes his hips and transfers weight.

01/25/2008 - Pre-Season Invitational Tournament - 2008 Kraft is an enthusiastic infielder who is an outstanding teammate. He has a passion for the game and will do anything to help his team win. He hit the ball well to the opposite field at the plate, and maintained good balance throughout his stroke. Defensively, needs to improve his overall quickness and agility. Can work to get into a more consistent fielding position, both by moving his feet and getting his glove more out front. Overall, a solid player that will benefit from working on overall strength and quickness.

11/18/2007 - College PREP - Cathedral City, CA We saw Justin at 3B and his glove plays fine over there. He has a good wide base and solid lateral movement. His glove is a bit late at times over there, but he gets rid of the ball quickly and plays through aggressively. There is some length to his actions but he is steady over there. At the plate he showed as we have seen him. Firming up his base and getting more out of that lower half will imporve his barrel accuracy.

08/25/2007 - ACR-E California 3 Improved velo, hitting, and raw power. At 2B, has excellent glove with soft hands and good range. Would like to see him play low and field ball out in front. Showed stiff actions. At the plate, brings a good idea with a line drive approach. Used entire field. Would like to see him use his hands more, instead of shoulders, which will improve bat speed. Firm front side will allow for lower half explosion through ball.

05/28/2006 - College PREP - Phoenix, AZ Justin has shown tremendous improvement in the year since we first saw him. Justin's first step is solid and he takes good angles to the ball. Covers ground to both sides. Actions overall are raw. Footwork could improve. Legs are a bit heavy, and he tends to field the ball deep. Would like to see him work on getting the hands out in front on the play. Justin's approach is back up the middle and to the opposite field. Bat plane and extension are fine. Does a good job of staying behind the ball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
