06/27/2022 - 2022 BF National West Showcase powered by Under Armour Justin has developed into one of the top pitching prospects in the 2023 class. He has an ideal 6'3"/200-pound frame and he is in total control on the mound. His delivery is balanced and repeatable and it leads to a quality 3-pitch mix that includes a lively fastball that sat 90-93 during his outing at the Baseball Factory West Showcase. That fastball plays up thanks to his deliberate deliver - the ball gets on hitters in a hurry. Justin complements that with a breaking ball that has tight rotation and 2-plane break and a developing low 80s change that has some fade to it. Overall, this is a high ceiling arm with starting pitcher traits.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - West) Justin is a stud (6'2"/200) two-way prospect (3B/RHP) prospect in the 2023 class. At 3B, he starts in a relaxed/ready position with a good glove. He fields the ball in a square position with a relaxed glove and loose wrists. He creates momentum into his release, showing accurate throws from across the diamond with carry/backspin (89 mph). At the plate, this RHH takes the box in a tall/athletic setup with high hands. Justin uses a small/controlled load while working through his lower half to generate power (exit velo = 90 mph). He creates good shoulder/hip separation and extends his hands through the zone creating hard contact with gap-to-gap power. From the mound, Justin uses a three-pitch mix with a good presence from the hill. FB ranges 85-88 with easy velo and armside run, CB has 11-5 shape with good spin and depth, and CH shows run/sink while locating down in the zone. He shows good feel for all three pitches with the potential to be a complete/stud pitcher. Justin is a solid athlete with potential to be one of the best players in his class. We look forward to watching him compete at future events.

11/10/2019 - College PREP - Wildomar (Los Angeles), CA Justin is a lean, lanky RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79 mph. Breaking ball sits from 65-67 mph with 10/4 shape with gradual break. Changeup sits from 71-72 mph with sinking action. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. With 4 years to further develop, Justin has potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
