12/20/2023 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Justin is a 2025 1B out of South Mills, NC who continues to impress with improvements in his baseball abilities and did so at the Pirate City Christmas Camp & Tournament. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, he shows smooth/fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/24/2023 - National Showcase - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Justin is a 1B who will graduate high school in 2025. Tall frame lean build with some strength present. At 1B he shows feel around the bag with the ability to scoop balls. Made glove side turns on his throws to second base. Does a good job of keeping his eyes behind his glove with a quick exchange. He creates momentum to his target, with square shoulders, and an arm velocity up to 68mph. At the plate he starts with an athletic and even stance. He hits into a firm front side, with a small hand load, and keeps his weight between his knees. Gets a good barrel turn as he hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 71mph during his round of BP. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Justin making huge strides on the baseball diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
