08/01/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Justin showed some of his best skills to date during his time in Pirate City. He is a smooth player who is good at both 1B and on the mound. Defensively, Justin has agile movements, active feet, and he can pick the ball out of the dirt. He moves well around the bag, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy from a loose arm action to his target. On the mound, Justin works quickly, he has a clean arm circle, and finishes completely with a controlled landing toward home plate. Offensively, Justin has an open stance, good balance, and pop in his bat. He can work the ball to all fields and uses his lower body well.

08/03/2017 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Justin is a talented 1B/LHP prospect who has a lean, athletic build and graduates in 2020. In the field, Justin plays with effective footwork and proper pre-pitch actions giving him a good jump on the baseball. He presents his glove and fields the ball with soft hands. Justin has a clean exchange leading into a quick arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has a quick release showing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. As a left-handed hitter, Justin has an open stance with a centered balance. He takes a load with a square stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Justin has an on-plane swing path and quick hands producing square contact. He is a line drive type hitter who can drive the baseball. On the mound, Justin has a balanced, on-time stride throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a clean arm action and extends through his release. Justin stays square to home plate with the proper stride length. He does a nice job rotating towards his target as he finishes. Justin pitches with good tempo. He commands his fastball with tail movement and has good depth on his curveball. Overall, Justin is a versatile prospect who has a solid approach on both sides of the ball giving him a bright future on the diamond.

02/20/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Justin is a lean, lanky OF/1B and has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls and plays through well. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. He aggressive and shows soft /sure hands that he presents well out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup with balance. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach and power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Justin has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
