06/17/2010 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 1 Kahai is an average sized, 1st baseman that will graduate in 2010. In the INF, Kahai makes plays on balls hit his way and shows decent footwork around the bag. He can pick the ball out of the dirt and he throws accurately to his target. Hosaka scoops the ball out of the dirt well, and if he can get faster and stronger, defensive abilities will further improve. Offensively, Kahani is a patient hitter with a good eye. He has a compact swing, stays behind the ball, and can hit to all fields. Offensive grades can get better if Kahani can keep his back elbow lower, and again add strength.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
