10/07/2020 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Kai continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At SS, defensive abilities are excellent as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He shows a strong, accurate arm with on line zip (86 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 2 for 5. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be and has a bright future on the diamond.

03/08/2020 - College PREP - Fresno, CA Kai Hori is a 5'8/150 lbs left-handed hitting SS that will graduate in 2021. At SS, he has efficient footwork and showed good range to his backhand side, making plays with smooth actions. His 1st step quickness was impressive as he created angles early and picked his hops. His arm played well across the diamond and he flashed the ability to throw from multiple arm slots. At the plate, his hands and hips worked together to spray the ball to all fields. Kai displayed good balance through the swing and hit off a firm front-side allowing him to generate fast bat speed when paired with his direct path. Contact was consistent and pop was sneaky for his frame - as he hit 86mph with his exit velocity. Overall - we enjoy watching players like Kai and feel he has tremendous upside in the game. We really look forward to having him at the Senior Fall Classic in October!

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
