07/14/2018 - Baseball Factory D.C. All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Kalani is a coachable 2B prospect who continued to work hard on his skills during his time at the D.C. All Star Experience. In the field, Kalani shows efficient footwork and fields in a low position. He gains momentum well on his throws and keeps them accurate to his target. Kalani can improve defensively by fielding the ball out in front of his body. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and maintains center balance. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent line drives. Kalani can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. With six more years to develop, Kalani has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Kalani is a hardworking 2B prospect who graduates in 2024. As a left-handed hitter, Kalani has a square, tall stance with his weight in the front of his setup. He has fluid rhythm with a short stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Kalani keeps his head down with a direct, on-plane swing path. He is a contact type hitter who has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. In the field, Kalani plays hard and makes the routine plays. He is continually hustling and is not afraid to get dirty. He fields the ball with a firm glove. Kalani has a long arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. His throws are consistently accurate across the diamond. Overall, Kalani is a coachable prospect who plays the game the right way and can advance his game with development.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
