11/10/2011 - Pirate City Select Training - 2011 Karel is a young, thin catcher whose hitting skills improved since his last event. He has a solid setup, he swings in good rhythm, and he has a good bat angle. Karel makes consistent contact, he puts the ball in play, and he has pop to the pull side. If Karel can loosen his grip, avoid spinning off the ball, and add bat speed, offensive numbers can continue to spike. Defensively, Karel has a good set-up, he looks the ball in, and his hands are playable. He tries to keep the ball in front when blocking and he throws with decent accuracy to 2nd base. Catching abilities can improve if Karel can improve his blocking, soften his glove, and add arm strength.
