07/22/2008 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Karlton is a 3B with a solid average body. Foot speed is near above average and he shows solid foot work in the infield with his feet. He moves well laterally. Glove action is deep in on the body allowing the baseball to get in deep, dictating play. He needs to presents two hands down and out in front of his body, attacking the baseball with his feet and hands. Arm strength is solid average and displaying some carry across the diamond with accuracy. He needs to get on a strict long toss program to continue to build arm strength. At the plate, Burnett shows average ability. He does a nice job of keeping hands inside the baseball utilizing all fields. Power numbers will increase as he learns to utilize his lower half more through efficiently through the swing. Karlton has ability with a lot of room to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
