11/03/2024 - National Showcase - Gambrills, MD Kayden is a right-handed pitcher and first baseman with a stocky build from the high school class of 2031, who shows strong fundamentals in both positions with significant upside. At first base, he demonstrates excellent pre-pitch movement, maintaining a clean arm action with throws coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are accurate and online, and he consistently presents a reliable target with the ability to scoop errant throws, making him a steady presence on defense. As a right-handed hitter, he employs a controlled, crouched stance, leading to an on-time stride and excellent tracking of the ball. He keeps his hands inside and consistently makes square contact, especially to the pull side. On the mound, he works exclusively from the stretch, with good early target recognition and a controlled, repeatable delivery. He effectively commands a four-pitch mix, including a fastball, breaking ball, slider, and change-up. As a young and developing player, Kayden has plenty of room to add strength and refine all aspects of his game, with a promising future ahead in both his pitching and positional play.

08/01/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Myrtle Beach, SC Kayden Roney is a 1B/OF that recently played at the Ripken Experience. Defensively he has a very strong and accurate arm. He saw action behind the plate as a catcher and was able to throw one runner out. Offensively he has a very good feel for the game as during one at bat he intentionally hit behind a runner to move him over. He consistently puts the ball in play and reach base in about half of his bats. He was also able to collect two hits including a double. On the mound his fastball was clocked at 60 mph and he complimented that with a 45 mile per hour curveball in which both pitches he had command over. He filled at his position well and he also pitched ahead of hitters consistently.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
