02/02/2014 - College PREP - Houston, TX Keaton is an athletic RHP/OF that will graduate in 2014. Currently, he projects slightly better in the OF for the next level. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.13 60 time. Defensive abilities in the OF are solid, displaying smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in his lateral movement, read balls well off the bat takes proper routes / in tracking balls down, displaying outstanding range. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he works to get behind balls, playing through well with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he shows an athletic / squared approach and he tracks the ball well. Hands are quick, and aggressive, working through a direct / level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 79-81 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. Keaton has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
