02/17/2024 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Keegan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and is a prospect on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.47 runner. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is firm but needs to present more out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds to the double play. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 69 mph. Fastball shows a range of 68-69 mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Knuckleball shows tumbling action. He is aggressive and has an idea on the bump. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Keegan is a 2029 3B/RHP who showcased his skills during the BF East Coast Winter Classic. At 3B he shows athletic actions and creates good fielding angles. He works from right to left and fields from a square fielding position with a low funnel. He creates momentum towards his target with an arm velocity up to 74mph. On the mound he has a confident demeanor and is composed on the mound. Has repeatable delivery with a clean arm stroke. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 68mph with tailing action, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with sharp break, and a changeup with arm side run that he throws with FB arm speed. In 2 innings of work, Keegan didn't allow a hit and punched out 3 batters. At the plate he hits from an athletic and even stance with comfortable hands. Shows on-time rhythm to swing with activated hands and gets back hip through the baseball. In live game action he reached base 4 times with a triple, 2 walks, and reached on error. He has good fundamentals and should improve his skillsets with continued growth and development. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

11/12/2023 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Keegan is a talented 1B/RHP in the 2029 class. In the field, he has positive footwork and centers his body to the baseball. Gains a low and athletic fielding position from a quick 1st step. His exchanges are clean and arm plays at 76 velo. Also shows a feel for the position and bag awareness. On the mound, he uses a high 3 qtr slot for his 4-pitch arsenal. His FB sat 69-70 with run and good life. His CB ranged 58-61 with 10-4 shape and his knuckle sat 59-61. His circle change has a natural and loose stroke and worked the bottom of the zone at 63-4. At the plate, he begins in a solid set-up and swing with intent (73 exit velo). He gains solid extension and looks to create line drive production. Scouts feel he has a bright future ahead of him and are eager to witness his development at future BF events.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
