Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

03/14/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Manalapan, NJ Kevin is a 2022 RHP/3B. Tall frame athletic build with some present strength and room to add. Primary right-handed pitcher who works from the stretch only. Long levers and an easy arm action. Good balance and a repeatable delivery that works down the mound well. FB was up to 80mph and was around the zone. Mixes in a 10/4 shape CB that he hits with for strikes. A developing splitter with slight downward action through the zone. Projects well on the mound as he extends and uses lower half. Secondary 3B, active feet let him create good angles. Low funnel and clean transfers to multiple arm slots. Accurate arm to all bases with good carry across the diamond at 80mph. Right-handed hitter who starts with an open and upright stance. Good separation allows him to get on plane early. Showed quick hands and some barrel whip with a bat exit speed at 84mph. Flat path through the zone and ability to hit line drives into both gaps. 2-way play that has a bright future at the next level with continued development and growth.

03/25/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Madison (NYC), NJ Kevin worked out at 3B and on the mound during his last workout in Madison. He showed improvements in multiple areas of his game. In the INF, Kevin has soft hands, efficient footwork, and he reads the hops well. He presents his glove, has a clean exchange, and throws with consistency from a long arm action to his target. On the mound, Kevin works quick, he repeats his delivery, and he has good direction toward home. He has a clean arm circle, a controlled landing toward home, and he competes in the zone. Offensively, Kevin is an aggressive hitter with a square set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He loads well, makes square contact, and uses his lower body. Kevin can improve skills with work on the following.

Infield
1. Lateral quickness
2. Lower fielding osition
3. Quicker release
Pitching
1. Balance point
2. More lower half
3. Stronger front side
Hitting
1. Looser grip
2. Stay on away pitches

02/24/2018 - Mid Atlantic Regional Accelerated Pitching & Catching Weekend (Ages 12-14) Kevin is a hard-working and talented 2022 RHP prospect that made several adjustments during the pitching and catching accelerated training weekend. On the bump, Kevin gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a clean arm stroke. He uses his lower half and stays balanced over the back leg. Continuing to start with more weight on the back leg will allow him to work over the front side and stay north to south toward the plate. Creating a slight tilt toward the plate will also help him create more velocity on the ball. Kevin will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/09/2017 - Accelerated Hitting Weekend PHS- Columbia, MD Kevin is a coachable and hard-working prospect that made several adjustments to further his skills at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, Kevin has an athletic stance, and a short stride. He stays balanced through contact and uses his lower half. Creating rhythm and separation in his hands will help him get his front foot down on time. Keeping his head down through contact will prevent him from spinning off the backside and get extension. Attacking the inside part of the ball will keep his barrel more direct and on plane. Kevin will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

08/27/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Wilmington, DE Kevin is a (2022 grad) at 3B/RHP. Defensively at 3B, he hustles into a good fielding position on GB's. He gets rid of the ball with a clean exchange and makes accurate throws across the infield. On the mound, this RHP keeps his eyes locked in and delivers from a lo 3/4 arm slot with loose arm action. He separates on time and fills up his 3-pitch mix for strikes. Offensively with the stick, Kevin shows an athletic setup with balance. He takes aggressive hacks through the zone and squares up pitches driving them on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral quickness
2. Develop soft hands
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Pitching
1. Lower 1/2 drive off rubber
2. Stay directional
3. Finish
Offense
1. Loosen grip
2. Develop rhythm
3. Level out swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
