08/05/2010 - Vero Beach Pro Select Training and Competition - 2010 Fischer continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Hitting grades and power numbers have improved since we last saw him in July. He has an athletic setup and his hands are loose and aggressive. Fischer shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. He makes adjustments at the plate, especially with becoming more balanced in his approach, and is a very coachable player who wants to get better. Defensively, arm strength has improved as he shows accuracy with carry on his throws. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with his hands and feet working well together. Fischer always gives 100% and we expect his abilities to continue to improve with hard work and experience.

07/20/2010 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Kevin is a young OF who shows projection as an outfielder as he continues to physically mature. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 6.80 60 time. Feet are active in taking proper routes and angles in tracking down balls in the OF. He displays range, but needs to work on getting behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. He gets rid of the baseball quickly from an over the top slot but must get on a long toss program and lengthen arm swing to provide more carry on throws. Offensively, Fischer shows a line drive approach through a level swing path. He needs to work on staying shorter to the ball so he can put more balls in play to utilize his above average foot speed. With 2 years to further develop, Kevin has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
