08/04/2010 - College PREP - Middletown, CT Kevin is a stocky 2nd baseman with good defensive skills. He presents his glove well, has good lateral range, and he stays in a low fielding position. Kevin has soft hands, he fields the ball out in front of his body, and he follows his throws to his target. Kevin throws accurately to his target, and if he can add arm strength and become more aggressive, solid defensive grades can get even better. At the plate, Kevin has a quiet / relaxed approach and good barrel accuracy. He has a level swing, he can spray to all fields, and he has some pop in his bat. Kevin will need to keep his hands higher, get more extension, and tap into more lower 1/2 in order for offensive grades to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
