08/29/2010 - College PREP - Nashville, TN Kevin is a young OF with an athletic frame that is well suited for his position and shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 6.99 60 time. Feet are active and aggressive in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls but needs to work on getting behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. He plays through ground balls well but needs to be more under control and work to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the throwing process. Arm strength is average displaying accuracy with slight carry as he will benefit by getting on a long toss program to further develop more arm strength. Offensively, Heath shows a balanced approach with hands working directly to the ball showing a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side due long swing path. Power numbers increasing as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. With 2 years to further develop, Kevin has abilities with room and time to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
