06/09/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Kevin continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. Pop times showed in the 1.99 range with on line carry (86 mph velocity) and accuracy to his throws. Receiving/blocking skills are tremendous as he shows off his athletic abilities. At the plate, he continues to shine. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (90 mph exit velocity) as he connects through a line drive path. A talented prospect, he will make things happen both behind the dish as well as with the bat.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Kevin continues to show a tremendous future on the diamond and he is a top prospect. This powerful RH backstop continues to shine. With flexion and good sway he pockets pitches with a soft/sure mitt. Pop times showed a range of 1.78-1.90. Arm strength is at a high level (89 mph velocity) with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry. He will control the running game with his feet/arm. At the plate, he has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped (91 mph exit velocity) through the zone as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. A talented prospect - he will make things happen both behind the dish as well as with the bat. Kevin has a very bright future ahead of himself.

11/04/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Kevin continues to show well each time we see him. At the BF UA Futures Texas event he, once again, showed his outstanding tools and that he has the ability to use those tools when it counts - in games. Kevin is a unique combination of athleticism (6.87 in the 60) and hitting ability at the premium position of catcher. His offensive abilities were on display with a quality batting practice that included lots of barrel contact (91 mph exit velocity) followed by a 1-2 showing in game with an RBI and 2 walks. He has a quiet confidence in the box and a natural feel to hit that starts with the rhythmic coordination of his leg kick and hands to trigger his swing. Behind the plate Kevin was his usual solid self showing his advanced ability to receive and block while throwing a 1.94 to 2B. Quality catcher are hard to find - this is an outstanding prospect to continue to follow closely.

07/19/2017 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Kevin is a talented catching prospect who has a strong, athletic build and graduates in 2019. As a right-handed hitter, Kevin has a square, athletic stance with a centered balance and firm front side. He has smooth rhythm with an effective load and short, square stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Kevin shows fast bat speed with a direct, on-plane swing path getting good extension at contact. He gets good rotation with his core producing hard, consistent contact. Kevin uses the whole field and shows the ability to drive the ball to the pull side with power. Behind the plate, Kevin has an effective setup and plays the position athletically with agile actions. He presents a desirable, low target and stays square to the pitcher. He does a nice job blocking the baseball and moves well laterally in each direction. Kevin has a clean exchange leading into a loose, quick arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has momentum through his release and his throws have good carry down to 2B with POP times ranging 1.90-2.00 seconds. Overall, Kevin has an above average skill set on both sides of the ball giving high potential to be an impact player at the next level.

02/19/2017 - College PREP - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Kevin is a muscular, strong catching prospect with athleticism that shows up both offensively and defensively. He has a cannon of an arm behind the plate (90mph raw velo) that he uses to help shut down the running game (1.87 pop time). He shows an easy, low setup behind the dish and uses quick feet and agile lateral movements to collapse and block quickly to both sides and deaden the ball to center. He works around the ball to receive with soft hands and earn extra strikes for his pitcher. At the plate, he loads to a powerful bat angle and has a strong stride to incorporate his lower half and generate power. His bat is explosive through the zone working directly to the ball to make hard, line drive contact for base hits. Getting his arms extended through contact will result in more carry on the ball and more extra base hits. Kevin is a very exciting prospect who has a bright future in the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
