11/08/2024 - Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Select Training & Competition (HS) Kevin is a dedicated 2027 first baseman and right-handed pitcher from Massachusetts, who recently worked hard to improve his skills at the Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Training in Arizona. Defensively, he shows solid fundamentals as a first baseman, working to center the ball and tracking it well into his glove. His throws are accurate to all bases, with an arm velocity that reaches up to 78 mph, and he demonstrates good ability to scoop balls out of the dirt. On the mound, Kevin starts with a 45-degree angle on the rubber and uses a small rocker step to create rhythm. His stride is in line, and he has some deception in his delivery, making it challenging for hitters to pick up his pitches. In one inning of work, Kevin threw a fastball, struck out one batter, and allowed no runs, showcasing the ability to produce outs. At the plate, Kevin sets up in an even stance with a level head and quiet eyes, allowing him to track pitches well. His hands and hips work together effectively, though he could benefit from utilizing more of his lower half to generate more power and drive the ball. In live game action, he reached base with a single, a walk, and an error, proving his ability to contribute offensively and be a tough out. With continued development over the next few years, Kevin has the potential to grow into a well-rounded player on both sides of the game.
