06/16/2017 - USA Baseball 17U Championships Keylon is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the USA Baseball 17U Championships. At 1B, Keylon shows efficient footwork and centers the ball in the middle of his body. He gets into a low position and picks the ball well. He shows a clean exchange with a quick release on his throws which allows them to remain accurate and carry through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He is fluid getting into his load and comes through well with his lower half. He gets explosive bat speed with great extension which leads to hard contact and gap to gap power. Overall, Keylon is a talented prospect who has the skill set to perform well at the next level.

06/06/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Keylon continues to show the abilities to make an immediate impact at the next level. At the plate is where he continues to show best with pro level hitting power potential. He has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He shows a level swing path. The baseball jumps off the bat (89 mph exit velocity) when centered with power showing best to the pull side. At 1B, he has plus lateral range, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Hands are soft/sure and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws zipping across the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.24 runner.

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Once again Keylon showed that he can just flat out hit. He has rhythm, great hands and excellent barrel accuracy. There is a natural look to the set-up and swing that screams that he is an advanced hitter. He has quick hands and stays balanced while taking an aggressive swing that generates lots of whip and bat speed. Keylon also sees the ball very well, shows outstanding strike zone judgement, and squares up breaking balls. Everything points to a confident, mature hitter who will continue to hit at higher levels. In Arizona, he went 3-5 hitting the ball hard to all fields. As a defender, Keylon has dependable hands and good feel around the bag at 1B. Overall this is a 2018 left-handed bat to watch closely.

11/05/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Some guys are just natural hitters, and Keylon is one of those guys. He has a compact frame with a strong lower half that is incorporated into his LH swing. He has excellent balance and a natural feel for the barrel that is consistently on time. His hands deliver the bat head with authority, as most of his contact is loud with legitimate pull side power. After a loud BP, Keylon showed an advanced approach in his game at bats leading to a 2-3 performance. He is also a very capable defender at 1B with good hands and active feet. He has good bag awareness and should fit in well at the next level as a 1B who is a middle-of-the-order run producer.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
