06/09/2010 - Under Armour Southeast Regional Tournament - 2010 Dirschl has a solid event as he made all the plays in the infield with solid fundamentals. Offensively, he was 5 for 12 with 3 RBI. Leadership qualities are a plus as he communicates and competes well.

02/07/2010 - College PREP - Bradenton (Tampa), FL Brandon continues to show improvement in his baseball abilities as he continues to grow and mature. He improved in several categories at the the Bradenton 2/7/10 workout, and shows promise as still a young player. Kirk improved his radar velocity from 78 to 83 MPH and his arm grade from 42 to 45. At 2B, Kirk has good footwork, athleticism, and arm action. He is a fluid fielder with good range and very good hands. Kirk works to get around the baseball, shows a very good backhand, and turns a nice double play. Defense can further improve with a better 1st step and by fielding the baseball further out in front of his body. Offensively, Kirk has good balance, barrel accuracy, and use of his lower 1/2. He has a quiet approach, quick trigger, and a short / compact swing. Better extension and a more level swing should help Kirk's offensive grades further improve.

10/21/2009 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic - 2009 Kirk improved his fielding and hitting grades during the Fall Classic. At the plate, had good approach at the plate with good knowledge of strike zone. Was 4-11 at the plate with 3 BBs during the event. Was balance throughout swing which allowed for decent use of lower half. Quick hands created good bat speed. At 2B, had good pre-pitch presentation which allowed him to field ball out front with soft hands. Took proper angles to be able to field balls. Stringent agility program will help improve foot speed so he can play middle INF at the next level. Played thru balls aggressively as he made accurate throws to each base. Demonstrated good DP feeds and turns.

06/20/2009 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Kirk continues to show steady improvement in his baseball abilities. Arm strength is now slightly above average and he will benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength with carry on throws. Defensive abilities in the middle of the IF have improved now showing solid average abilities. He shows a solid backhand and is not afraid to use it. Feet and hands work well together through the fielding and throwing process. At the plate, hitting abilities and power have improved, now showing solid average abilities with slightly above average power. He shows solid pitch recognition and works to keep his hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He was 3 for 10 with 3 1B at the event. Kirk now shows as a class B type player and with 2 years to further develop, has the makings to be a solid player at the collegiate level.

11/07/2008 - Dodgertown Select Training - 2008 Dirschl showed solid hands and good range defensively, while arm strength was among his biggest areas for improvement (his arm was tender, and not 100% during this event). At the plate, he did a good job of getting the barrel to contact and showed a little bit of pop in his bat at times. Can work to develop more consistency in his swing and offensive approach. He showed the ability run the bases in games, stole some bases and showed some feel for the game. Did not pitch at this event due to soreness in arm.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
