03/11/2018 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Kole showed well offensively and defensively during his last workout with the Factory. Hitting skills are solid, he has fast bat speed, and a rhythmic swing. Kole has good leg drive, power to the opposite field, and he makes consistent contact. Defensively, Kole presents his glove well, he has quick feet, and moves athletically to the ball. He has good athleticism, a loose arm action, and throws with carry to his target.

02/10/2018 - Mid Atlantic Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Ages 14-18) Kole is a hard working and coachable prospect that made several adjustments during the hitting accelerated training weekend. At the plate, Kole has a relaxed approach and loads his hands back into the drive position. He attacks the ball with his lower half and drives the ball gap to gap. He has a high baseball IQ and makes adjustments pitch to the pitch. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball will help him get extension through contact. Kole will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

05/15/2016 - National Tryout - Bowie, MD Kole continues to progress on the diamond. Offensively, this RH swinger stands in well with centered balance. He whips the barrel with speed at pitches he likes and connects with some pop. Creating more extension through contact will help to increase power at the plate. At 3B - Long has active footwork and moves well into a square/athletic fielding position. He tracks the ball into a soft mitt, gathers smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. A 2019 grad - Kole is a hard worker who still has a ton of time to develop.

04/26/2015 - National Tryout - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Kole is a solid, young 3B that will graduate in 2019. Feet are active as he works to get around ground balls and squares up well, showing clean hands in making plays. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more, play through while presenting hands more out front and increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup and an aggressive approach. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. With 4 hours to further develop, Long has abilities with time and room to improve.

02/21/2015 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) Kole is a strong RHH that showed some nice improvements and adjustments while at the event. He has a short stroke that is delivered directly to the baseball and will continue to drive the ball more with increased usage of his lower half. Allowing the ball to travel deeper into the hitting zone will open up the whole field to him as a hitter and help him a great deal offensively.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
